I always wanted to be a writer; I mean, always, as far back as I can remember. In fourth grade I wrote what now seems like inane set of stories revolving around a character called Messy Mike. Even back then, I fostered an appreciation for alliteration. By the end of high school and into my college years, after a long distance relationship devolved into heartbreak, poetic words poured out of me as I filled spiral notebook upon spiral notebook with verse. Undoubtedly, these attempts were me teething on sonnets, haiku and free verse (admittedly mostly free verse).
